I decided to leave home today. My foster dad Omar gave me a letter from my parents not to long ago, written before they left me with him. From what I understand it was safer for me to stay with him than run with them. Though I don’t know the reasoning, it is just what he has been telling me since I was young.
As I strike out with my backpack full with the necessities I will need on this journey, I can’t help but be sad about leaving all that I know behind and yet curious what will lay ahead.
